Originally designed for the snowy pistes and low temperatures of the winter ski slopes, the puffer jacket has long since made its way into mainstream fashion – and rightly so! Women’s padded jackets and puffer coats are an excellent, sporty alternative to the traditional parka. With lightweight padding and a full range of colours, these are the perfect way to make an impact in autumn, winter and early spring.

Will it be a longline, quilted and hooded coat for maximum protection, or a padded short model for more freedom of movement?

If you’ve only ever seen women’s padded jackets on the Alpine slopes, you’d be forgiven for thinking that all women’s padded coats are long and bulky, suitable only for the lowest temperatures. But this is not the case at all! For milder weather, or times when you just want a little more freedom to move, it’s essential to have a couple of thinner, shorter women’s padded jackets to hand. These are as lightweight and easy-wear as your standard jacket or fleece, but offer better protection from the cold (and they’re water-repellent, too). Of course, when the temperature really starts to drop, there’s nothing better than a women’s long puffer jacket with a hood. Some of our longline padded coats also feature faux-fur trims to keep all that precious heat close to your body. But what about the padding itself? Natural down is the traditional quilting, but it often comes with a price tag. For everyday wear, we prefer synthetic padding in our quilted jackets – it’s lightweight, easy on your budget, and arguably endures a lot longer!

Primary blues, reds and yellows are great for winter sports, obviously, but they’ll also pair nicely with a great pair of jeans.
