Lined, unlined, hooded or packable? Swap your puffer for a lightweight windbreaker

Before you start choosing from these windbreaker jackets, think about the conditions, the temperature and what kind of unpredictable weather you’re likely to face. When cloudy skies are overhead, water repellent windbreakers are your friends (although a puffer jacket might be better suited to colder climates!). There’s even a full range of lined jackets that will add a little extra protection when you need it most, and many of our jackets for men feature excellent hoods that will keep your head dry, plus elasticated cuffs to keep the heat in. A little later in the season and further south, lightweight jackets and packable models will help keep out the wind and minor chills, without making you over-heat during sunny spells – make sure you choose an unlined model for milder climates and conditions. They’re also light and compact enough to throw over a shoulder or stow in a bag.
