Stay visible and stay safe: learn what the 3 classes of men's and women's high visibility clothing are

Hi-visibility clothing is essential safety wear, and safety wear is designed according to a series of specific requirements. In this case, hi-vis workwear is graded into 3 categories, from class 1 to class 3, and each class corresponds to the level of risk in your working environment. Let us break it down for you. Class 1 is the lowest-level protection, and is designed for people working away from the main road and in areas with low levels of slow-moving traffic, such as parking attendants and delivery drivers. It offers the minimum in hi-visibility protection. Class 2 is more reflective, and is for workers in reduced-visibility environments and relatively slow-moving traffic. However, if you're working on the road, with cars regularly exceeding 50mph (or 80kmph), then you'll certainly need some class 3 gear to keep you as visible as possible to any oncoming traffic. This offers the highest visibility, even when dim lighting and significant distances are involved. What colour hi vis clothing will you choose to wear?

When you're working in hazardous areas, you really want as much visibility as you possibly can. The perfect way to achieve this is with the classic reflective hi-vis yellow and orange, which come with the ubiquitous reflective strips to ensure that nobody can miss you. For more general reflective wear, however, you may want to choose black or navy blue. These don't have as much of a "construction" look to them, but the reflective stripes will still help keep you safe in the darkness - these are a particularly good option if you do a lot of cycling at night. Before you buy, just remember to consider level of protection and visibility you need, then choose the outfit to match.
